Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese vibration therapy. Essentially not a 'massage' using oils or balms on the body. The Reiki Practitioner will place their hands on 7 points of the body and using positive affirmations, enhance or create the vibration and energy flow within the patient to unblock stagnant points or activate Chakra's and assist the healing of the body.

The healing qualities can be beneficial to settle emotional issues,  often promoting a great sleep! Reiki is a thoroughly relaxing hour to float away in harmony or slowly work on things that are deep within your core.

Hot Stone Massage

Using Basalt smooth stones heated in water and aromatherapy oils to create a soothing massage of pure bliss!

Origins date back to 2000BC with the use of these stones used by the Chinese to help the internal organs. Native Indians use the stones in the sweat lodges to help heal spirit, mind and energies.

The stones are smoothed over the body and the warmth penetrates the muscles to relax, often allowing the therapist to apply firmer pressure to release the muscles. Stones left to sit along the back and long muscles will enhance the heat and provide a more relaxing experience.

Remedial Massage

Tailored massage techniques designed to tone and tune up muscles. Beneficial for rehabilitation from injuries. A range of testing is used to tailor a program to gentle stretch and relieve painful muscles, improve overall tone, blood circulation and muscle integrity.  Combined with stretching exercises and homework to bring your muscles back to 'tip top' condition.

Dry needling is used within this practice, it will be discussed if it would be best to use these within your treatment.

Tui Na

Also known as Chinese acupressure, this treatment following the acupressure meridians without using needles, only the finger tips. A set range of pressure points designed to treat all possible symptoms. The Eastern philosophy follows a 'holistic' approach rather than a 'disease'. Great success with reducing pain quickly and opening up the energy channels to create better Qi (chi or energy flow) and blood flow to promote the body to energise and begin to repair itself.

Lymphatic Drainage

Designed to move toxins and fluid build up (Oedema) from the muscles. A very gentle, light massage not using oils or balms move the fluid into the urinary system.  Some side effects may arise, yet this is the best treatment for fluid retention around joints and limbs. Beneficial in detoxing the body and help the body kick start itself to better health.

Sports Massage

Pre-event and post-event massage available.

Pre-event massage: includes specific techniques used to quickly warm up muscles and help muscle fibres 'fire' ready for sport and to aid in repair afterwards. Great for 2 hours prior to an event.

$55 for 30 mins

Post-event massage: including firmer pressure massage strokes and techniques which move toxins and lactic acid after sport. Great for athletes after an event or between events.

Swedish Massage

Who doesn't love a good old fashion relaxing massage? This style was developed around 5000 years ago by a Swedish fellow called Peter Linge. Developing his style he named his techniques with French terms - Effleurage (long strokes), Petrissage (kneading and rolling) , Tapotement (pummelling and hacking movements) and Friction (warming techniques).

Gentle and lightly flowing movements they all play their part in assisting with blood flow, better circulation, psychological benefits, skin improvement and numerous other benefits.

A number of techniques can be used within your appointment. Please discuss any issues or treatments you are interested in with me to maximise your treatment.

Cupping Therapy

Is an ancient Chinese therapy in which a cup (glass, bamboo or plastic) is applied to the skin and using oils on the skin the pressure is drawn out of the cup either by suction or heat and the skin and muscles are drawn into the cup. Generally the cups are used after an acupuncture treatment and sit on the body between 5 - 10 minutes or can be slided around the body.

Cupping is used on the meridians (like acupuncture or acupressure) and is thought to help reduce pain, remove any stagnation in the body and opens the meridians so that qi can flow freely. It is also believed it may assist certain meridians and organs that are not functioning at their best. We know that cupping helps to activate the lymphatic system, promote blood circulation, and is good for deep tissue repair. The back is the most commonly used area for cupping.

This practice uses three types of cups -  Flame cupping (glass cups), myofascial (plastic cups) and vacuum (silicon cups)

Ear Candeling

Not hearing too well? Build up of wax? Use the warmth of the candle to soften the wax and reduce ear pressure.

The candles are handmade of beeswax. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. Ear Candling is suitable for all age groups. The candles are lit and placed in the ear. The flame then acts as a vacuum suction and secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities and deposits.

It is a very relaxing treatment and you will feel warmth and hear a gentle crackling sound which is actually very enjoyable.

BENEFITS OF EAR CANDLING?

Though results may vary from patient to patient, some clients have reported the candles to be helpful with;

Sinus problems
Ear aches
